Lower Back Pain/Sciatica

What causes lower back pain?

Lower back pain is one of the most common medical complaints, causing significant discomfort, debility, and disability. That's because the lower back is used in so many of our daily actions, including lifting, bending, reaching and even sitting and standing. The lower back forms part of the body's core and is responsible not only for activities involving strength but also for those involving balance and stability. Many people develop lower back pain when the lower joints of the spine are out of alignment, resulting in muscle strain and irritation. Misalignment of the lower spine can result in alignment issues throughout the rest of the spine, resulting in widespread pain.

How can chiropractic care help me resolve my low back pain?

Chiropractic care works by gently realigning the spine and pelvis to reduce uneven stress and strain that can cause chronic lower back pain. Plus, by realigning the bones of the spine and pelvis, the nerve pathways between the brain and the muscles of the lower back are optimized and circulation is restored so oxygen and nutrients are properly supplied, supporting the body's natural healing process. Realigning the joints of the spine and pelvis also facilitates smoother movement of these joints, relieving local inflammation and pain.

How can I prevent lower back pain from occurring?

Because the lower back is involved in so many of the body's activities, the best way to avoid pain and other symptoms is by maintaining optimal health overall. That includes eating a nutrient-packed diet, keeping weight in check, improving ergonomics at work, home and school, and staying physically active. Routine non-force chiropractic adjustments and care also can help by strengthening your back and keeping it flexible, addressing issues in their early stages to prevent them from becoming more serious.
